Our Research

In 1999, a division of NIH called the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) became the Federal Government's lead agency for scientific research on complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). NCCAM facilitates the training of researchers and funds specific research projects. This has resulted in useful clinical data regarding a whole host of treatments for an even greater list of ailments.

At Abundant Health, PLLC, Lisa Taylor-Swanson is conducting three research projects. A passionate researcher grounded in dynamic and whole systems theory, she is committed to the following goals:

  1. Describing systems theory applications to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
  2. Developing research methods to use specifically with this theoretical orientation
  3. Developing research standards for TCM that are reflective of clinical practice and reality
  4. Demonstrating the efficacy of TCM in the treatment of various gynecological and reproductive concerns, including: PMS/PMDD, dysmenorrhea, oligomenorrhea, menopausal symptoms, pregnancy-related concerns, and male- and female-factor infertility
  5. Seeing the integration of women’s health services to include western, Asian, naturopathic, and chiropractic medical traditions.

Lisa's commitment to and involvement in research has a positive influence on the treatment of patients at Abundant Health, strengthening the Abundant Health clinical team's knowledge and ability to more effectively address patients' health concerns.
